I think it is so racist when....

I think it is so racist when people discrimminate against others and be so loquacious about it. It's like they don't care who heres it. It makes me so mad sometimes but I can't do anything about it because I'm on the basketball team, and I don't wanna get kicked off or suspended from over racism. (Stopped early.)

Twisted by Laurie Halse Anderson

Twisted is about a boy named Tyler who is a dorky teenager who wants to make himself known. So in order to do that he does the "Foul Deed." He spray paints the outside of the school with graffiti and gets caught. He has to do some community work to make up for his crime instead of going to jail. He goes to work for the janitors at his high school and by the end of the summer instead of the dorky looking teenager he was he is now a bulked up dork for his senior year. Then he goes to a party while still on probation and it all goes down hill from there. After the party he later finds out that he is being charged for taking dirty pictures of the girl who invited him to the party, Bethany. The police tell him that he can no longer be put in a classroom with the oother students, so they put him in a little room off of the main office. After all of this happens him and his dad get into a fight and Tyler leaves to go to his friend Yoda's house. Later him and his dad make up and his dad tells him that he is sorry. Then Tyler finds out that he was not guilty and they let him off the hook. He turns his life around and tries to work harder to get what he wants out of life. It is anawesome book! I loved It!

Overall View of "What My Mother Dosen't Know"

The book was about the life of an average 15 year old girl named Sophie. The book thells the ^ups^ and the
D
O
W
N
S

And everything in between of a average teen girls everyday life. Mostley the book is about being true to yourself and your feelings and not letting other people influence your decisions. The book is great for anyone age 12-16!!! You learn from Sophie's mistakes. The book can jump around a bit and gets a little random but it was still enjoyable.
Sophie tells about her first second and third loves. The book shows the problems of a young girl trying to survive her teen years while at the same dealing with her confilcts with her mother and fearing what people think. Sophie must break up with her boyfriend Dylan after falling for a guy named Chaz over the internet. Soon after she realizes that Chaz isn't what he apeared to be. Sophie befriends the nerd of the school named Murphy. Soon she finds out that he has a crush on her and ends up going on a date with him. Sophie thinks about what her friends might think but at the end Murphy gets his girl and Sophie finds her true love.

I don't remember everything about my elemtary years but there is one event that I remember very well. I was in 2nd grade and we had these things called stop lights. They were round and they were red, yellow, and green. If we were bad than the teacher would take one of them away. One day I was being loquacious. My teacher took one of my lights and I was devestated. I went home and cried. From that day forward I never spoke out in class when I wasn't allowed. It was one of the worst feelings in my life.

Grammar

In our Acc. English Class our group had to take a quiz to determine what elements of grammar we needed a little help with. We all thought we knew what Nouns, ProNouns, Adjectives and ect. were. Turns out we needed a little help with our pronouns and adjectives.

Mrs. Mullins had us work on our weaknesses by giveing us projects designed for our groups personal drawbacks. Such as sifting through paragraphs at a time and decided which words were pronouns and adjectives.

I believe that Mrs. Mullins really knows how to get kids involved in learning. Working in groups, posting our progress on our blog and reading and discussing literature together has helped me succeed in english.

My freshman year English class was very difficult for me. I enjoy reading I wasn't inspired. It seemed like we were reading the books just to write a summary about them and to fulfill the requirements of the state, it didn't seem like we were reading them because they were worth reading. All this relates back to our grammer becuase Mrs. Mullins also inspires us to learn the right way, I don't think she just want's us to pass the test and forget about it. She really cares that we know what were doing.

Feel free to post your comments and opinions about working in groups and lit circles.

Thanks.

Overall View of Deadline

The book starts out with a young boy in his senior year of high school. He was on the track team and wanted to go to college on a scholarship, but soon found that he had less than a year to live. When he found out he decided not to tell anyone about not taking treatments or the fact that he was dying.

After finding out about his disease, he decided to go out for football and go for the girl he has always wanted to be with but thought that she was unatainable.(Dallas Suzuki) He even decided to help Rudy McCoy, the town drunk. He became obssesed with Malcom X and sat out on a mission to get a street named after the black man in an all white town.

Soon after the football season ended he began to tell his family and friends that he was dying. He died in the arms of Dallas. At the end of the book, his younger brother gave a speech about his life and how meaningful it was to everyone. The street was finally named after Malcom X in Ben's favor.
